At the May Market we invited people to bring plants and seeds that they have surplus so they could swap with other people. Sion Griffiths (Community Climate Action Facilitator) from Gwyrddni ran the stall with Wendy from Wendy’s Plants. Gemma from Yr Orsaf also came to help plant sunflowers with children in the community garden. It was a lovely sunny day and most of the plants were swapped and lots of seeds.

Children were asked to plant a sunflower seed in a pot at the May Marchnad. They were given instructions on how to help it grow, and were asked to return in September for judging. The widest seed head wins a prize.

This Saturday, Beauty With A Conscience – Sarah Roberts will be at Marchnad Lleu (please note our new location) * Neuadd Goffa Penygroes* and I’m going to set up a special recycling station for all your old and unwanted makeup products. Many of us have makeup items tucked away in drawers that we no longer use or have simply expired. Instead of letting them go to waste or end up in landfills, we can give them a new life through recycling. So, if you have any unwanted makeup taking up space, I’d love to take them off your hands!

Now, you might be wondering why recycling makeup is so important. Well, here are a few key reasons:

1. Preservation of the environment: By recycling makeup products, we prevent them from polluting our land and water bodies. Makeup often contains harmful chemicals and microplastics that can harm wildlife and ecosystems if not disposed of properly.
2. Conservation of resources: Recycling makeup means that the materials can be recovered and used again, reducing the need for extracting new resources. This helps conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing new products.
3. Promoting sustainability: Recycling makeup aligns with the principles of a circular economy. By giving these products a second life, we reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable future. 

So, here’s how it works! Just pop over to my stall at Marchnad Lleu, and you can easily drop off any old or unwanted makeup items into the recycling bag. From there, I’ll take care of the rest!

Let’s make a positive impact together by recycling and giving these products a chance to be transformed into something new. Spread the word and invite your friends to contribute too! The more, the merrier!

The local band Nantlle Vale Silver band came to entertain us at the Christmas Marchnad by playing a medley of Christmas songs and had us all singing carols, with Fflur Pierce leading the singing. It was very festive.

Helene sold seeds and other goodies to raise money for Medecins Sans Frontiers https://msf.org.uk/

We needed a logo for Marchnad Lleu, and we decided to ask the children from local schools to design a logo taking into account our beautiful valley.

The logo was judged by local artist Luned Rhys Parri. 

We  love our logo, and wish to thank all the children who took part in the competition.
