One of the ADRA Officers came to share information.They provide quality homes in North Wales. The company looks after nearly 7,000 homes and provides services to over 16,000 local customers. Their goal is that these are affordable and reliable. They can offer help with benefits, reducing energy costs, domestic abuse, live in safe areas, support for vulnerable tenants.

Citizens Advice
Eiriona from the Citizens Advice Bureau came to the Marchnad. CAB are willing to share information and refer people to get the proper support from this association – which is free, independent, confidential and impartial. They’re available to help with benefits; work; energy; money and debt; consumer affairs; housing, law and courtship, health, housing; Immigration.

Community Catalysts
Fran Lowden shared information about Community Catalysts which is being funded by Cyngor Gwynedd.

St John’s Ambulance
Ryan from St. John’s Ambulance came to teach Emergency First Aid and was kept busy throughout the morning demonstrating and answering questions. Following this session, a course was arranged for the Talysarn Football Club.

Y Bont
I wonder how many know of what Y Bont in Penygroes do? Magi, the Office Manager attended to share information on what they can offer families, young people and children. A wide range of services are available and Magi signposted people to the most suitable provision.

Yr Orsaf
Greta, Yr Orsaf shared information about all the community projects in the local area they have in the pipeline.

Road Safety Wales
Gwynedd Council’s Road Safety Unit offers a variety of different sessions for Primary School pupils e.g. cycling, Carys Careful story sack, kerbcraft etc; as well as a variety of sessions for High Schools. The Unit also offers Pass Plus Cymru training to individuals who have passed their test aged between 17 and 25. The Unit is also responsible for various road safety campaigns e.g. anti-drink driving.

Welsh Women’s Aid
This month’s information sharing table was ‘Ask Me’, under the care of Sian who works for Cymorth i Ferched – Womens Aid. She had posters, cards and an opportunity to share information on what help is available to overcome domestic violence. Thank you for coming to us..

Dementia Go
Emma Quaeck shared useful information and resources to help and support people with dementia, carers, family members and friends. We would like the Marchnad to become Dementia Friendly in the near future.

Stroke Prevention
The Stroke Prevention Team from the Area Health Board came to share preventative measures. They measured blood pressure and heartbeat and, after some of questions, fed the information to the computer and provided feedback. Out of the 18 people approached, 6 were in the ‘red’ and at risk of having a stroke. Thank you so much for coming along.

Quit Smoking
Jo-Anna from the Area Health Board was in the main hall with a range of information leaflets and offered help to stop the dangerous habit of smoking. There is plenty of support and information available in your GP surgeries, Clinics and on their website.
This is what Jo-Anna had to say after the busy morning:
“I can confirm I spoke to 21 people, signed up one client, and several others took information for family or friends who may want to quit.” Thanks for coming to the Marchnad to encourage people to stop
