We are an enthusiastic group of people and decided to set up Marchnad Lleu following discussions about local climate adaptation at XR Dyffryn Nantlle pre Covid and subsequently at the Yr Orsaf Transition Café set up through Gwyrddni – the Gwynedd Climate Assembly in 2022.
We felt that engaging with the public regularly was a priority, but how could we get access to people?
Therefore what better than a monthly market helping local growers, makers and producers to sell and showcase nutritious locally grown food, food products and crafts to local people, addressing food security and health issues, the circular economy and sustainability.
We constituted the group and set up a bank account, and our first market was in May 2023, and now they are every month. We have been successful in securing Community Lottery Funding for our website and to fund tasters.
